MFA Program Welcomes National Book Award Winner George Packer for Inspired Writers Series
Fairfield University’s MFA in Creative Writing Program will host National Book Award winner and Pulitzer Prize finalist George Packer as part of its Inspired Writers Series on January 27 at 7:30 p.m.
The event will take place at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts’ Wien Experimental Theatre and is open to the public. Packer will be joined by Fairfield professor and National Book Award-winning author Phil Klay for an in-depth discussion of Packer’s novel, The Emergency.
The event is presented by the John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences and is co-sponsored by the Quick Center for the Arts and the Center for Arts & Minds.
Acclaimed Author George Packer to Speak
George Packer is widely regarded as one of the most influential chroniclers of contemporary American life. Over the past two decades, his work has examined American foreign policy, political polarization, economic inequality, and cultural transformation, earning him both a National Book Award and a Pulitzer Prize finalist distinction.
At Fairfield University, Packer will discuss his latest novel, The Emergency, a powerful literary exploration of the disintegration of empire and the personal lives shaped by political and cultural upheaval. The novel continues his long-standing engagement with the forces shaping modern America.
