— Cheers to everyone who uses the Detroit Lakes Public Library.

In case you’re wondering, here are the most popular books checked out at the library last year, courtesy of Hillary Stevens, marketing director for the Lake Agassiz Regional Library.

In 2024, “Tom Lake” by Ann Patchett was the most checked out title at the Detroit Lakes Public Library. This reflective novel tells the story of a family who owns a cherry orchard in northern Michigan and who navigate their mother’s revelations about her life during the harvest season.

Other titles that were popular in Detroit Lakes include “The Women” by Kristin Hannah, which was the most checked-out book by all Lake Agassiz Regional Library customers across the library system’s seven-county service area, as well as “Sinister Graves” by Minnesota-author Marcie Rendon, “The Exchange” by John Grisham and “The Five Star Weekend” by Elin Hilderbrand.

The Detroit Lakes Public Library is a branch of the Lake Agassiz Regional Library, and Becker County residents are eligible for a free library card, which offers access to hundreds of thousands of books, movies and other items available in the library’s collection.
