Hey, bookworms.
Everyone has had their fun with yearly roundups of top music, top foods, and more, so Multnomah County Library is hopping on the bandwagon with a list of the best and most checked-out books of 2025.
Staff members selected their picks for the best books of the year and did a deep dive into data on what patron’s liked most.
Here are the most checked-out physical books:

Multnomah County libraries had more than two million annual visits in the most recent fiscal year and checked out or renewed books and other items nearly nine million times. A community institution since 1864, Multnomah County Library maintains 19 public locations.
From staff votes, dozens of titles, sorted by category, are being recommended as the best books of the year. This is broken up by Best Books for kids and teens 2025 and Best Books for adults 2025, with full lists available online.
